Privacy Policy

Who we are

The Story Well Collective ("we," "us") is operated by Hans Tullmann and Angela Lockard, doing business as The Story Well Collective, based in Bakersfield, California. This policy explains what information we collect through thestorywell.co, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have a question, email us at hello@thestorywell.co.

The short version

• We only collect what you choose to give us, like your name and email when you book a call or write to us.
• We use it to talk with you about our services, and we may stay in touch afterward. We never sell it.
• We only text you if you have said yes to texts, and you can stop them at any time.
• We never use your recordings, photos, or words for marketing without your written permission.
• Our visitor statistics do not use cookies and do not identify you.
• You can ask us to stop contacting you, or to show, correct, or delete your information, at any time.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you book a discovery call, Google Calendar asks for your name and email address, and may ask for a phone number, a short note about what you are looking for, and whether we may contact you by text message. When you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.

Information collected automatically. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not tell us who you are. Our hosting provider (Google Firebase) also keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, and the time of each request, for security and reliability.

Information from sessions. If you become a client, recordings, photos, and notes from Legacy Story Sessions or Clarity Quest coaching are handled under the written agreement we sign with you. Finished films are kept in secure cloud storage and shared with your family through a private link. They are not made public unless you give permission, as described below.

Recordings, photos, and marketing

We will not use any recording, photo, or quote from your session for marketing without your written permission. Giving permission is always optional: it is a separate checkbox on our release form, and saying no does not affect your session or your film. We may offer a thank-you, such as a discount or a free add-on, to clients who choose to share.

If you give permission, we may edit and format short clips, photos, or quotes for our website, our YouTube channel, our Facebook and Instagram pages, and our podcast (for example, on Spotify), where your family and friends can also find and share them. Once something is posted on a public platform, others may view, save, or share it.

You can withdraw permission at any time by emailing us. We will stop using your material in anything new and remove it from our own website and channels. We cannot recall copies that other people have already saved or shared.

How we use your information

• To schedule and hold your discovery call, and to reply to your messages.
• To provide the services you ask for, if you become a client.
• To stay in touch afterward and let you know how we might be of service in the future, unless you ask us not to.
• To understand, in total, how people use the website so we can improve it.
• To keep the website secure and to meet legal obligations.

How we stay in touch

• Email. We may send you a personal email from time to time about how we might help in the future. If we send group emails, such as a newsletter, every one will include an unsubscribe link.
• Mail. We may send a card or a note by mail.
• Text messages. We only text you about our services if you have said yes to texts, for example by checking the box on our booking form or release form. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them. Saying yes to texts is never required to book a call or to become a client, and we never sell or share phone numbers for others to use.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the business, and only so they can do that work for us:

• Google (Workspace email, Calendar booking, Google Voice calls and texts, Firebase website hosting, and file storage)
• Cloudflare (website domain services, cookie-free visitor statistics, and file storage)
• An email newsletter service, if we start sending group emails

Material you have given us permission to share for marketing is posted on the platforms named above, such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Spotify.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of anyone involved.

How long we keep it

We keep your contact information so we can stay in touch, until you ask us to remove it. Recordings and other client records are kept as described in your client agreement. You can ask us to delete your contact information at any time, and we will.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to stop contacting you, to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email hello@thestorywell.co and we will respond within 30 days. Residents of California and other states with privacy laws have these rights by law, and we offer them to everyone.

Children and teens

This website is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Clarity Quest coaching for teens is arranged with a parent or guardian, who provides any information we need. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reputable providers and secure (HTTPS) connections, and we limit access to your information to the two of us. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect what you share with us.

Other websites

Booking happens on a Google Calendar page, which is covered by Google's own privacy policy. Links to other websites are not covered by this policy.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top.
